Tomppa (Tom Nuorivaara) of Madcraft have been nice enough and answered some of our questions for an interview for the fans. Here you go, and enjoy!
1. Where from came the idea of founding a band?
– We knew each other from previous bands and got the idea of playing straight forward music that has a good vibe in it. From the first rehearsal on we knew that this thing works and we haven’t stopped since.
2. Why Madcraft? Who came up with the name? Does it mean something?
– We actually had our first gig after only three rehearsals. We hadn’t thought of a name yet so we needed one fast and someone came up with MadCraft. I think it was meant to be changed but we never did. It’s a good name so why should we.
3. How would you describe your music?
– Superpowered Punkpop! That’s a genre we made up to describe our music. It’s punk, it’s pop. It’s catchy choruses and positive melodies with a fistful of attitude.
4. If there is a conflinct in the band how do you solve it?
– We haven’t really got any huge conflicts but if we get any, we talk them out and try to find a middle ground that suits everyone.
5. What was the best/worst/most special gig experience you had so far?
– One of the craziest and most memorable gigs we’ve had so far was when we were in Tallinn, Estonia about a month ago. We had no idea what to expect but everyone was so into us and it must’ve been one of the most energetic audiences we’ve ever had. We’d really love to go back there again some time soon!
6. Do you have a specific ritual before you go on stage, something you do together?
– I don’t think we have anything specific. Maybe drink some energy drinks.
7. What is your dream venue where you would like to play?
– Tavastia and Nosturi would be cool venues to play in Helsinki. Also some bigger festivals would be awesome. But if we could do anything we’d want to play the really big venues like Wembley Stadium or Warped Tour and so on.
8. How do you share the work in the progress of making new material? Who does what usually?
– One of us usually have an idea of a song and maybe has a chorus or something. When we have an idea of how a song should go we take it to the rehearsal place and play it together until it’s finished. After that we usually record it a couple of times before it’s ready to be published.
9. Which international success reached Finnish band you look up at? Why?
– Well any band that has made it out there is someone to look up to. Be it The Rasmus or Children Of Bodom. We don’t really have that many Finnish bands that we look up to musicwise but we do respect the hard work that goes into making it big time.
10. What do you think is the greatest thing in/about Finland?
– The fact that nothing can really go wrong that badly. When you look at what’s going on in the world right now. We have it pretty good here.
11. If you ever reach a huge international success would you move away from Finland?
– If that’s what it takes, yes. Finland isn’t in the most center of places so it would make sense living somewhere more convenient.
